We have a 5-star food hygiene rating and support individuals to cook hearty meals wherever
possible.
We organise fundraising days and events, having raised money most recently for Trindledown’s
Christmas boxes for their cats and dogs.
We also run a timetable of activities for our residents and as of 2023 have also opened
this up to the community, in order for people to develop and maintain friendships.
We have also been finalists at the great British Care Awards, 2022.
WHAT DO WE DO?
A SPECIAL TAILORED SERVICE
Downview has and continues to provide a specialist tailored service for individuals with a learning disability, mental health and for people with behaviors which could challenge.

We are an autism
friendly safe space and equal opportunities employer. We provide bespoke care and support to individuals. We deliver this care through a range of methods, via core care hours or through one to one allocation.
We support individuals to be a part of writing their own care plans, and we support
positive risk taking. Individuals at Downview live a life they want to live and are supported to go on holiday abroad at least once a year.
We have a dedicated and highly skilled team, who have skillsets in different areas of health and social care – for example we have an autism lead, a medication lead and a health and safety lead.
We support staff to train and develop in a way that that they want to in order
to further their knowledge and support the ever changing needs of our wonderful residents.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Our referrals come from Local Authorities – mainly Reading Borough Council and West Berkshire Council, however Downview supports referrals from out of County.
The referrals process is a
structured practice, with assessments being undertaken for suitability purposes with tea visits and overnight stays encouraged to ensure that the individual is making the right decision for them.
Quality of life is of the utmost importance to us and, where capacity is lacking, we work closely with families and professionals to ensure needs are met and that people have choice and control over the lives they live.
GIVING OUR RESIDENTS A VOICE
We run a timetable of activities and encourage our residents to have a voice and advocate for them to empower themselves.
Residents have regular house meetings where they can guide the support that they want, in the way that they want it.
WHERE ARE WE?
We are situated on the outskirts of Hungerford, in the heart of the Wessex Downs and adjacent to
the Thames Valley.

Downview consists of a spacious, homely five bedroomed property with a large
landscaped garden and a quaint two bedroomed Cottage. All rooms are decorated to a high
standard and personalised by the individuals who occupy them. Both properties are maintained
regardless of cost.
We pride ourselves on being a care home that is as close to a home environment as
